The functional tester can be understood as a mix of the following roles, which are defined within the literature:
- Testdesigner / Test-Analyst
The role analyses the requirements and specifications and creates test cases out of them. Therefore Testdesigners must be able to understand the business context and feel comfortable about the methodology. They are required within all lifecycles of the testing project. - Tester
The role executes the test cases and evaluates the results. Differenciations to the expected outcome must be documented.
