Service Design


Service Design supports Service Strategy by providing a Service Design Package for new or adjusted services. The following correlations exists within Service Design:

Service Design Package

The aim of Service Design, is the creation of a Service Design Package. This package has the following structure:

  1. Business Requirements
  2. Service Design, incl. Service requirements
  3. Organizational Readiness and assessment
  4. Service LifeCycle plan:
    1. Service Program
      e.g. infrastructure setup (3 months), development (9 months), testing (2 months), etc.
    2. Service Transition Plan
    3. Service Operation Take-Over Plan
    4. Service Acceptance Criteria
      Ensures the functionality and quality of the deliverable and operatability by the IT Service Provider

Solution Design 

Solutions are design in the following sequence of activities:

  1. Analysis of the agreed business requirements
  2. Review of existing services
  3. Solution design, based on the new requirements
  4. Ensurance that all Service Acceptance Criteria are met
  5. Evaluation of alternative designs
  6. Re-Evaluation and confirmation of business utility of the new / adjusted service
  7. Decision for the preferred solution and the planned results
  8. Examination of compliance, security and governance
  9. Organizational Readiness Assessment incl. business and IT skills, agreements, contracts, Service Design Package, etc.
